Saturday Mini Mornings – Children are Welcome!
October 5, November 2, January 11, March 1, April 5
Time: 9:30 – 11 am
The Mini Morning provides great opportunity to experience Waldorf early education first hand. Held on the first Saturday of most months, we open our classrooms for a taste of a typical day at Acorn Hill. You and your child can meet our teachers and enjoy a shortened experience of our daily rhythm, with open play, bread-making, circle and story, and outdoor play on our beautiful wooded playground. Teachers, parents and board members are on hand to answer questions and talk about our school. Please contact the school office to register. There is no charge for the Mini Morning.

Your Spiritual Child:
Supporting the Young Child’s Natural Sense of Devotion & Wonder
When a baby first discovers that he or she has two hands, and that they can meet, or when the young toddler takes up the most common object, bottle, bracelet or key and we behold how the little one responds to that object, with total devotion; that is “religious. “ We can have devotional feelings in many connections, from flowers in a meadow to flashes of lightning, to the stars. We behold in the young child the new awakening to that which for us has long since become “common.” We can learn to see the world through their eyes and to support that, rather than trying to pull them into our world. The child can give us the highest possible revelation of what the world really is.
Rev. Carol Kelly has been a Waldorf class teacher, music and singing teacher, and an adjunct faculty member of Antioch University in Waldorf Teacher Training. She is now a priest in The Christian Community, Director of a children’s summer camp and works with children of all ages in various classes, retreats and camps. She is a mother and grandmother and lives in College Park, MD.
Adult education is a vital part of our Acorn Hill community. We offer a variety of events of interest to parents, on topics ranging from Waldorf education, child development, parenting and family life. All talks are held at Acorn Hill, and begin at 7:30 pm. A donation of $10.00 is requested at the door.
