Welcome, Parents of Children Enrolled at Acorn Hill
The Parent Circle is Acorn Hill’s equivalent of a PTA – a gathering of parents who want to take an active part in building a vibrant Acorn Hill community. Our goal is to support the faculty and staff by organizing community-building events and fundraising activities. Although we primarily engage in volunteerism, our purpose is also to be a social forum for parents.
Please join us in our various activities and events as we share this journey as parents of young children. We are looking to get to know each other and support each other as we navigate issues facing us as parents today, and as we try to incorporate more Waldorf methods into our home lives. Please send any questions or comments to email@example.com and we will get back to you.

Embodying Discipline: An Experiential Workshop for Parents
Tuesday, December 5, 2017 7:30–9:00 pm
Movement is our first language, and a gesture can sometimes speak more clearly than words. In this experiential workshop, we will increase our awareness of the non-verbal realm of parent and child communication through simple movement exercises. This class is led by Lynn Adelman and Lani Hill, both professional dancers, movement educators, and WWS Early Childhood faculty members. Please dress in clothing suitable for movement. $10 suggested donation.
Family Crafting Social and Wee One Shoppe
Sunday, December 10, 9:30am-12:30pm
The Wee One Shoppe is a special Secret Shopper opportunity for children ages 3 to 8. Parents, your children will be able to go through the Wee One Shoppe set up especially for them. With alumni volunteers helping them (no parents allowed!), your kids will be able to buy small gifts for family members, specifically purchased or made and priced starting at just $1. Children will have fun wrapping and tagging their gifts as well. What a sweet surprise for you to enjoy something they selected all on their own! While the children pick out something special, enjoy the crafting social and bake sale or do some holiday shopping yourself at the Little Shop and New-to-You Jewelry Sale.
At the Family Crafting Social, Acorn Hill Handwork Fairies will help you make your own holiday gifts! Purchase adult and child handcraft kits and have fun completing them during the social with help from faculty and volunteers. Completed handwork projects will also be on sale. Grandparents and friends welcome! Mark your calendars!
Holiday gifts at the Little Shop! Complete or start your holiday gift shopping at the Little Shop. Specialty gifts of handmade items as well as the ever useful Stockmar crayons and beeswax for sale!
Also featured at this event is the New-to-You Jewelry Sale. If you have any earrings, necklaces, rings, and bracelets that you no longer wear, your jewelry from times past or gifts that aren’t quite your style could be someone’s current treasure. Money raised will be used towards Acorn Hill’s family events and activities. This is the perfect opportunity to support Acorn Hill, while enhancing your own annual clean-up or downsizing efforts! Donations can be dropped off in the Acorn Hill Office by December 8th.

A Conversation Among Waldorf Grandparents: Building our Relationships
Wednesday, April 25, 2018 7:30–9:00 pm
As grandparents we enjoy watching our grandchildren grow and expand their horizons, yet sometimes it can be difficult to establish an easy-going, relaxed relationship with the children, and even with their parents. Parenting choices and styles may differ from what we had experienced. Understanding Waldorf education can help to open the door to a more satisfying relationship with your grandchild and his or her parents. Several panelists will share their experiences as Waldorf grandparents, with a chance for discussion and exchange of ideas. $10 suggested donation.
Saturday, May 14, 2018 10am–2pm
All are welcome! Join us for this annual and popular family event! Children enjoy outdoor games, crafts, activities and a special marionette show. Other highlights include the sale of dolls, animals, and other crafts lovingly handmade by our very own parents, Little Shop items, plants, homemade baked goods, delicious wholesome food for lunch, and a raffle.
