What is your policy on immunizations?

Acorn Hill Waldorf Kindergarten & Nursery is licensed as a child care center through Maryland State Department of Education’s Office of Child Care and as a non-public Kindergarten through Maryland Department of Education. We follow all state and local requirements for student registration and immunization, including reporting vaccination status to the state, opening student records to health department review, and excluding students from school if they do not comply with requirements or if there is an outbreak of a vaccine-preventable disease against which they are not immunized.

The Maryland Health Department requires that all enrolled children must meet minimum vaccination requirements for Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (DTaP), Haemophilus Influenzae Type b (Hib), Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, & Rubella (MMR), Pneumococcal (PCV), Polio, and Varicella (Chickenpox), as outlined on this form. Parents are required to provide the immunization form along with a health inventory prior to a child attending a school. Maryland allows medical contraindication and religious objections to vaccination.

What training have your teachers received?

All our lead teachers have completed certification in Waldorf Early Childhood Education and have bachelor’s degrees or equivalents. All teachers take annual continuing education courses in Waldorf education and more.
